Back Pain Shouldn’t Be Ignored

Should I Ignore My Back Pain

A straight forward question, yes. It’s a common question that I get asked on a regular day basis. My back pain isn’t bad, I believe I can tough it out. Perhaps you can. In some cases, back pain does go away on its own. Here’s what you have to remember, when you feel pain, what does this mean? Give up? This is your body telling you that something isn’t right. This is why you feel pain, it informs the brain that something wrong is going on. Would you ignore chest pain? Probably not and although the heart renders instant care over the back, this is still your natural chemistry telling you that something in your back is causing you pain.

Chronic Back Pain

Pain management has become an important aspect of medical care. Chronic back pain should NEVER be ignored. Did you know that pain is the number one cause of disability in the United States? It’s true, yet another reason why you shouldn’t ignore your back pain or pain in general. Any type of pain that last 3 to 6 months is classified as chronic pain. So, if you’ve been experiencing back pain for more then a half of year, you have chronic back pain. If left untreated, the pain and your condition can get worse.

Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain is the most common type of back pain that you can have. Nearly 4 out of 5 people will experience back pain in their life, most will experience lower back pain. Your lower back is more mobile then your upper back. This is the main reason that most people experience lower back pain rather then upper back pain. Trauma and injury is one of the leading causes of back pain and can escalate to chronic back pain. Any type of injury to the back can cause pain, either minor or severe.

Natural Causes Of Chronic Back Pain

As men and women age, you’re more prone to chronic back pain. Natural causes can lead to a variety of chronic back pain issues, such as Spinal Degeneration. Your disc wear and tear as you age and it can lead to a narrowing of the spinal canal. A person with spinal degeneration may experience stiffness in the back upon awakening or may feel pain after walking or standing for a long time. Bulging Disc, also known as herniated disc or ruptured disc, is another chronic back pain condition that aging can cause. The intervertebral discs are always under constant pressure and stress. As discs degenerate and weaken, cartilage can bulge or be pushed into the space containing the spinal cord or a nerve root, causing pain. Studies have shown that most herniated discs occur in the lower, lumbar portion of the spinal column.

Back Pain Treatments

Don’t ignore your back pain, you have plenty of options to consider for treatment. First, if you’ve recently experienced injury or trauma, you need to consult with your doctor immediately, especially if your back pain was caused by this injury. If your back pain has been ongoing for less then 3 months, you need to see your doctor. You need to properly be treated, tested, diagnosed and treated for your back injury. This is true for any of you that are experiencing acute back pain.

Now, if you’re suffering from chronic back pain, there’s several different types of back pain treatments that can bring you back pain relief. It’s important to note that back pain treatments can affect everyone differently. With that in mind, let’s talk about the various back pain treatments that you can look to for help.
