Herniated Disc – Get a Full Recovery Right at Home!

A herniated (slipped) disc occurs when all or part of a disc is forced through a weakened part of the disc. This may place pressure on nearby nerves or the spinal cord.

The bones (vertebrae) of the spinal column protect nerves that come out of the brain and travel down your back to form the spinal cord. Nerve roots are large nerves that branch out from the spinal cord and leave your spinal column between each vertebrae.

The spinal bones are separated by discs. These discs cushion the spinal column and put space between your vertebrae. The discs allow movement between the vertebrae, which lets you bend and reach.

With herniated disc:

  • The disc may move out of place (herniate) or break open (rupture) from injury or strain. When this happens, there may be pressure on the spinal nerves. This can lead to pain, numbness, or weakness.
  • The lower back (lumbar area) of the spine is the most common area for a slipped disc. The neck (cervical) discs are sometimes affected. The upper-to-mid-back (thoracic) discs are rarely involved.

Ouch, right sounds painful and it is. A herniated disc is one cause of radiculopathy. This is any disease that affects the spinal nerve roots.

Slipped discs occur more often in middle-aged and older men, usually after strenuous activity. Other risk factors include conditions present at birth (congenital) that affect the size of the lumbar spinal canal.

The Symptoms

The pain will most often occur on one side of the body.

  • With a slipped disc in your lower back, you may have sharp pain in one part of the leg, hip, or buttocks and numbness in other parts. You may also feel pain or numbness on the back of the calf or sole of the foot. The same leg may also feel weak.
  • With a slipped disc in your neck, you may have pain when moving your neck, deep pain near or over the shoulder blade, or pain that moves to the upper arm, forearm, and fingers. You can also have numbness along your shoulder, elbow, forearm, and fingers.

The pain often starts slowly but it may get worse after standing or sitting, at night, when sneezing, coughing or laughing. When bending backwards or even walking more than a few yards. You may also have weakness in certain muscles. Sometimes you may not notice it until your doctor examines you. In other cases, you will notice that you have a hard time lifting your leg or arm, standing on your toes on one side, squeezing tightly with one of your hands, or other problems. The pain, numbness, or weakness often goes away or improves a lot over weeks to months.

When you go for your check up your doctor will check:

Your doctor may also ask you to:

  • Bend forward, backward, and sideways
  • Sit, stand, and walk. While you walk, your doctor may ask you to try walking on your toes and then your heels.
  • Raise your shoulders, elbow, wrist, and hand and check your strength during these tasks
  • Move your neck forward, backward, and sideways

Leg pain that occurs when you sit down on an exam table and lift your leg straight up usually suggests a slipped disc in your lower back.

In another test, you’ll bend your head forward and to the sides while the health care provider puts slight downward pressure on the top of your head. Increased pain or numbness during this test is usually a sign of pressure on a nerve in your neck.

DIAGNOSTIC TESTS

  • Nerve conduction velocity test may also be done.
  • Spine MRI or spine CT will show that the herniated disc is pressing on the spinal canal.
  • Myelogram may be done to determine the size and location of disc herniation.
  • EMG may be done to determine the exact nerve root that is involved.
  • Spine x-ray may be done to rule out other causes of back or neck pain. However, it is not possible to diagnose a herniated disc by a spine x-ray alone.

A short period of rest with medication for the pain will be the first treatment for a herniated disc, then followed by physical therapy. Most people who follow these treatments recover and return to normal activities. Some people will need to have more treatment. This may include steroid injections or surgery. But when it comes down to it, just taking better care of yourself and not over doing it at work or around the house can make a huge difference in the way you feel and how you recover. Be sure to have a great exercise routine, an exercise program that specializes in the backs anatomy and for herniated disc ( slipped disc ) and all disc disease. It’s important for nearly everyone with disc disease to apply the right exercise for a safe and healthy recover. Degenerative Disc Disease – Great Facts and Treatments

Degenerative Disc Disease – Great Facts and Treatments

Degenerative disc disease is one of the top five most common causes of low back pain and neck pain, and also one of the most misunderstood diagnosis.

For a patient who is new to , common questions often include:

  • If I have pain from degenerative disc disease in my thirties, how much worse will it become with age?
  • Will the degenerative disc disease become a crippling condition? Will I end up in a wheelchair?
  • Should I restrict my activities? Can I still play sports?
  • Will the disease spread to other parts of the spine?
  • Will the degenerated disc(s) cause any permanent damage?
  • What can I do to reduce the symptoms from a degenerated disc?
  • Is surgery inevitable?

The most common symptom of Degenerative disc disease is pain and possibly radiating weakness or numbness stemming from a degenerated disc in the spine. While this may sound simple, many patients diagnosed with degenerative disc disease are left wondering exactly what this diagnosis means for them.

What you should know!

degenerative-disc-disease-disc

Degenerative disc disease is not actually a disease but a term used to describe the normal changes in your spinal discs as you age. Spinal discs are soft, compressible discs that separate the interlocking bones also known as vertebrae, that make up the spine. The discs act as shock absorbers for the spine, allowing it to flex, bend, and twist. Degenerative disc disease can take place throughout the spine, but it most often occurs in the discs in the lower back lumbar region and the neck cervical region.

  • The changes in the discs can result in back or neck pain and/or:
  • Osteoarthritis, the breakdown of the tissue cartilage that protects and cushions joints.
  • Herniated disc, an abnormal bulge or a breaking open of a spinal disc.
  • Spinal stenosis, the narrowing of the spinal canal, the open space in the spine that holds the spinal cord.

These conditions may put pressure on the spinal cord and nerves, leading to pain and possibly affecting nerve function.

What causes degenerative disc disease?

As we age our spinal discs break down or degenerate which may result in degenerative disc disease.

These age-related changes include:

  • The loss of fluid in your discs. This reduces the ability of the discs to act as shock absorbers and makes them less flexible. Loss of fluid also makes the disc thinner and narrows the distance between the vertebrae.
  • Tiny tears or cracks in the outer layer annulus or capsule of the disc. The jellylike material inside the disc nucleus may be forced out through the tears or cracks in the capsule, which causes the disc to bulge, break open rupture, or break into fragments.

These changes are more likely to occur in people who smoke cigarettes and do heavy physical work such as repeated heavy lifting. People who are obese are also more likely to have symptoms of degenerative disc disease.

A sudden acute injury leading to a herniated disc such as a fall may also begin the degeneration process. As the space between the vertebrae gets smaller, there is less padding between them, and the spine becomes less stable. The body reacts to this by constructing bony growths called bone spurs osteophytes. Bone spurs put pressure on the spinal nerve roots or spinal cord, resulting in pain and affecting the nerve function.

The Right Degenerative Disc Disease Treatment

Usually the goals of treatment for degenerative disc diseases are to rest and immobilize the area affected. This is done to give the soft tissues sufficient time to heal, as well as to decrease the inflammation in the supporting tissues and the affected nerve roots. Degenerative disc disease can be successfully treated with conservative, meaning non-surgical care consisting of medication to control inflammation and pain, steroid medications delivered either orally or through an epidural injections and physical therapy and exercise. Surgery is only considered when patients have not achieved relief over six months of nonsurgical care and are significantly constrained in performing everyday activities.

What you should know is the right DDD treatment is essential to relieving the pain of degenerative disc disease and is part of almost every treatment program for degenerative disc disease. Our degenerative disc disease treatment (Doctor’s Pain Relief Systems) has several great components like – Hamstring stretching, since tightness in the hamstring muscles down the back of the thigh can increase the stress on the back and make the pain caused by a degenerative disc worse. Hamstring stretching is always recommended to help relieve the pain and pressure. Back strengthening, where patients are taught to find their ‘natural spine,’ the position in which they feel most comfortable, and to maintain that position. Low-impact aerobic conditioning (such as walking, swimming, biking) to ensure adequate flow of nutrients and blood to spine structures, and relieve pressure on the discs. While it is common for patients to want to rest when the pain flares up, it is usually not advisable to rest for more than a day or two. I know it can be extremely uncomfortable to be active when dealing with this disease but I assure you it’ll get better with time. Stay active and keep great posture and I recommend Doctor’s Pain Relief Systems to strengthen, condition and relieve pressure on the discs and nerves that causes your DDD to flare up!

Sciatica – Say Goodbye To Sciatica Pain

Y165_1

Sciatica – Say Goodbye To Sciatica Pain

As many as 40% of people will get Sciatica, or irritation of the sciatic nerve, at some point in their life. The most common symptom from Sciatica is pain. Most people describe a deep, severe pain that starts low on one side of the back and then shoots down the buttock and the leg with certain movements. Sciatica can also cause hip pain. The pain is usually worse with both prolonged sitting and standing. In most people, the pain gets worse by sneezing, coughing, laughing, or a hard bowel movement. Bending backward can also make the pain worse. You may also notice a weakness in your leg or foot, along with the pain. The weakness may become so bad you can’t move your foot.

Sciatica is a common type of pain affecting the Sciatic nerve, a large nerve extending from the lower back down the back of each leg. This nerve comes from either side of the lower spine and travels through the pelvis and buttocks. Then the nerve passes along the back of each upper leg before it divides at the knee into branches that go to the feet. Anything that puts pressure on or irritates this nerve can cause pain that shoots down the back of one buttock or thigh. The sensation of pain can vary widely. Sciatica may feel like a mild ache; a sharp, burning sensation; or extreme discomfort. Sciatica can also cause feelings of numbness, weakness, and tingling. Seek immediate medical attention if you have progressive lower extremity weakness, numbness in the upper thighs, and/or loss of bladder or bowel control.

Other Common symptoms of Sciatica include:

  • Pain in the rear or leg that is worse when sitting
  • Burning or tingling down the leg
  • Weakness, numbness, or difficulty moving the leg or foot
  • A constant pain on one side of the rear
  • A shooting pain that makes it difficult to stand up

Sciatica usually affects only one side of the lower body. Often, the pain extends from the lower back all the way through the back of the thigh and down through the leg. Depending on where the Sciatic nerve is affected, the pain may also extend to the foot or toes. For some people, the pain from Sciatica can be severe and debilitating. For others, the Sciatica pain might be infrequent and irritating, and has the potential to get worse.

The Causes of Sciatica

Sciatica is caused by irritation of the root(s) of the lower lumbar and lumbosacral spine.

Other common causes of Sciatica include:

  • Lumbar spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal in the lower back)
  • Degenerative disc disease (breakdown of discs, which act as cushions between the vertebrae)
  • Spondylolisthesis (a condition in which one vertebra slips forward over another one)
  • and even Pregnancy

Other things that may make your back pain worse include being overweight, not exercising regularly, wearing high heels, or sleeping on a mattress that is too soft, yeah you heard that right, a mattress that is too soft can cause your back to hurt!

Treatment for Sciatic pain ranges from hot and cold packs and medications to exercises and complementary and alternative remedies. While it may seem counterintuitive, exercise is usually better for relieving Sciatic pain than bed rest. Patients may rest for a day or two after their Sciatic pain flares up, but after that time period, inactivity will usually make the pain worse. Without exercise and movement, the back muscles and spinal structures become deconditioned and less able to support the back.

The deconditioning and weakening can lead to back injury and strain, which causes additional pain. In addition, active exercise is also important for the health of the spinal discs. Movement helps exchange nutrients and fluids within the discs to keep them healthy and prevent pressure on the Sciatic nerve. Caring for Sciatica should be considered part of one’s daily living, not just something to add to the routine at the end of the day. In addition to an exercise routine, patients with Sciatica should minimize everyday stress on the lower back, including using appropriate ergonomics while lifting, maintaining good posture, making sure the lower back is supported while sitting, and avoiding sitting or standing for long periods of time.

We Recommend Doctor’s Pain Relief Systems, which is one of the best treatments for helping and relieving Sciatica. Which is a specific, controlled, progressive exercise program and back treatment that is tailored around the underlying cause of the Sciatic pain. The specific Sciatica exercises serve two main purposes:

  • Reduces the sciatic pain in the near term
  • Provides conditioning to help prevent future recurrences of the pain

If your dealing with Sciatica and have tried countless of exercises, home remedies, medications and treatments, and nothing seems to help. Doctor’s Pain Relief Systems is the one system that is tailored around the underlying cause of the Sciatica and back pain. It’ll strengthen the abdominal and back muscles in order to provide more support for the back. Stretching exercises for Sciatica target muscles that cause pain when they are tight and inflexible. When patients engage in a regular program of gentle strengthening and stretching exercises, they can recover more quickly from a flare up of Sciatica and are less likely to experience future episodes of pain. Back Pain Treatments and Facts You Must Know!

Back Pain Treatments and Facts You Must Know!

Back pain is a common health issue today that affects at least eight out of 10 people. It’s a prevalent problem among Americans. In fact, statistics from the American Chiropractic Association reveal that at least 31 million Americans experience lower back pain at any given time.

The ACA report also says that:

  • One-half of all working Americans admit to having back pain symptoms each year.
  • Back pain is one of the most common reasons for missed work. In fact, it is the second most common reason for visits to the doctor’s office (next to upper-respiratory infections).
  • As many as 75 to 85 percent of the population will experience a back problem at some time in their lives. In most cases, this pain is mechanical in nature – it is NOT caused by a serious medical condition, such as inflammatory arthritis or fracture.

Chronic back pain has become such a debilitating problem – and it’s costly, too. According to the ACA, Americans spend at least 50 billion dollars each year on back pain—and that’s just for the more easily identified costs! I cannot stress enough that preventing or treating disease is possible without the intervention of medications. The same is true for back pain. You only need to address the root cause of the problem by changing your lifestyle and the way you eat and move.

Conventional health care practitioners are quick to prescribe medications like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), acetaminophen, and even opioids for chronic pain. But even if these medications can provide immediate back pain relief, their effect is only temporary – the pain will come back sooner or later and in some cases will cause hyperalgesia, or increased sensitivity to pain!

What’s more, medications touted to provide back pain relief are saddled with severe side effects. For example, NSAIDs, one of the most commonly prescribed drugs on the market, not only put you at a two- to four-fold higher risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular problems, but may also cause:

  • Severe gastrointestinal problems, like digestive tract bleeding
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Kidney problems

Be mindful that these life-threatening side effects of painkillers are not restricted to prescription NSAIDs like Celebrex, but may also come from over-the-counter drugs like aspirin, Advil, and Motrin. Opioid painkillers like OxyContin, which are also commonly prescribed for back pain relief, also have a highly addictive nature. In fact, opioids are among the most commonly abused prescription drugs today, and are a leading contributor to the increasing rates of fatal prescription drug overdoses. This is why back pain is now one of the primary reasons why so many American adults get addicted to painkillers.

The bottom line is that painkillers always come with risks. Unfortunately, if you consult your conventional physician about your chronic back pain, he will often prescribe a long-term treatment plan that may include anti-inflammatory drugs, muscle relaxants and possibly other types of pain medication or even anti-seizure drugs – a poisonous chemical cocktail that will put your health at severe risk!

If you are already suffering from chronic back pain or pain of any kind, you should understand that there are many safe and effective alternatives than prescription and over-the-counter painkillers, though they may require some patience. As a chiropractor I can assure you one of the best tactics to help treat back pain is to see a qualified chiropractor. Chiropractor Physiology puts great emphasis on your body’s innate healing wisdom and does not rely on “Band-Aids” like drugs and surgery.

The problem is that a lot of people ignore chiropractic care, thinking that it’s just “pushing bones into place.” However, there’s a whole lot more to chiropractic care. In fact, one of the basic foundations of this health system is “vitalism” – recognizing that the human body has an innate healing intelligence or ‘life force’ that guides and directs your body’s healing process. Qualified chiropractic, osteopathic, and naturopathic physicians are reliable, as they have received extensive training in the management of musculoskeletal disorders during their course of graduate healthcare training, which lasts between four to six years. These health experts have comprehensive training in musculoskeletal management.

Many studies have confirmed that chiropractic management is much safer and less expensive than allopathic medical treatments, especially when used for low-back pain treatment. What’s more, researchers have also found that chiropractic adjustments may affect the chemistry of biological processes on a cellular level. Chiropractic care can affect the basic physiological processes that profoundly influence oxidative stress, immune function and DNA repair. This means that aside from addressing any immediate spinal misalignment that might cause back pain, chiropractic care can also help address, prevent and treat deeper dysfunctions in your body. If you live in Richmond, Virginia or outside the area. I recommend taking a trip to Integrative Health Spine & Disc Center, which is the largest Laser clinic in Virginia specializing in chronic pain conditions. 11 Ways To Avoid Back Pain

11 Ways To Avoid Back Pain

If you’ve been dealing with a sore back, you’re not alone. Four out of five people experience back pain at some point in their life, making it the fifth most common reason for visiting the doctor. Back pain takes various forms, from a persistent dull ache to sudden sharp pain, and has many causes. Sometimes it results from a sprain, fracture, or other accidental injury. It can stem from a disease or medical condition, such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, or spinal stenosis (a narrowing of the spinal canal through which the spinal cord runs). Many people develop back pain in part because they’re overweight or sedentary.

The good news is that most lower back pain usually gets better within a few days or weeks, and surgery is rarely necessary. What’s more, simple self-help strategies such as these can be surprisingly effective at preventing back pain and keeping it from returning:

1. Get more exercise. If your back is hurting, you may think the best way to get relief is to limit exercise and to rest. A day or two of rest may help, but more than that may not help the pain. Experts now know that regular physical activity can help ease inflammation and muscle tension.

2. Watch your weight. Extra pounds, especially in your midsection, can make back pain worse by shifting your center of gravity and putting strain on your lower back. Staying within 10 pounds of your ideal weight may help control back pain. Here’s help to get started on weight loss.

3.Sleeping position. If you’re prone to back pain, talk with your doctor about the best sleeping position. Sleeping on your side with your knees pulled up slightly toward your chest is sometimes suggested. Prefer to sleep on your back? Put one pillow under your knees and another under your lower back. Sleeping on your stomach can be especially hard on your back. If you can’t sleep any other way, place a pillow under your hips.

4. If you smoke, stop. Smoking restricts the flow of nutrient-containing blood to spinal discs, so smokers are especially vulnerable to back pain.

5. Pay attention to your posture. The best chair for preventing back pain is one with a straight back or low-back support. Keep your knees a bit higher than your hips while seated. Prop your feet on a stool if you need to. If you must stand for a prolonged period, keep your head up and your stomach pulled in. If possible, rest one foot on a stool — and switch feet every five to 15 minutes.

6. Be careful how you lift. Don’t bend over from the waist to lift heavy objects. Bend your knees and squat, pulling in your stomach muscles and holding the object close to your body as you stand up. Don’t twist your body while lifting. If you can, push rather than pull heavy objects. Pushing is easier on the back.

7. Stash the skinny jeans. Clothing so tight that it interferes with bending, sitting, or walking can aggravate back pain.

8. Avoid high heels. They can shift your center of gravity and strain your lower back. Stick to a one-inch heel. If you have to go higher, bring along a pair of low-heeled shoes and slip into them if you become uncomfortable.

9. Lighten your wallet. Sitting on an overstuffed wallet may cause discomfort and back pain. If you’re going to be sitting for a prolonged period — while driving, for example, take your wallet out of your back pocket.  Better yet… keep your wallet in your front pocket from now on!

10. Pick the right handbag or briefcase. Buy a bag or briefcase with a wide, adjustable strap that’s long enough to reach over your head. A messenger bag (like the ones bike messengers wear) is made to wear this way. Having the strap on the opposite shoulder of the bag distributes the weight more evenly and helps keep your shoulders even and your back pain-free. When carrying a heavy bag or case without straps, switch hands frequently to avoid putting all the stress on one side of the body. To lighten the load, periodically purge bags, cases, backpacks, and other carriers of things you don’t need.

11. Forget about back braces. Various back supports are available, from elastic bands to special corsets. They can be helpful after certain kinds of surgery, but there is not much evidence that they help treat chronic back pain.

If you follow the 11 steps given to you, you’ll be able to avoid a great deal of back pain. Most Back Pain is caused by us, lifting, working ourselves to death, lack of exercise and most important posture.

There are a lot of causes but I guarantee if you make some changes you’ll be able to feel a difference and avoid severe back pain. If your experiencing severe back pain, you’ll be surprised just how much exercise can help.

Nubax Trio

How Does the Nubax Trio Work?

Nubax Trio

Nubax Trio

Nubax Trio, one of the most popular back pain treatments to ever hit the market, has helped many men and women find back pain relief at home. Traction therapy (spinal decompression), the practice of lengthening the spine, has been used for decades to relieve back pain from herniated disc, bulging discs, back arthritis, sciatica, muscle injuries and pinched nerves. Traction therapy can be extremely beneficial as you seek back pain relief. Not only is it effective for back pain, it is also safe. You don’t have to worry about hanging upside down and injuring your back further, all big benefits in my book. But when compared to other back pain treatments, how does Nubax Trio compare?

Now, the Nubax Trio decompresses and stretches your spine in a way that you can’t possibly do on your own. This stretch creates a separation in your vertebrae, which takes the load off your spinal discs and nerves, while allowing your back muscles to full relax and heal. The stretch increases blood circulation too, and allows for healing nutrients to get to the injured area faster, which speeds up the healing process.

When you stretch your back with the Nubax Truio, it creates a negative vacuum in your spine… just enough pressure to “suck” your disc back into the spot it’s supposed to be in. This “lifts” the disc off the nerve and relieves your pain – sometimes instantly – Without medication, cortisone shots and surgeries, Nubax Trio can help you find back pain relief.

As you lean forward in the Nubax, it decompresses and stretches your spine, creating a separation in your vertebrae, relieving pressure on your spinal discs and nerves. This simple but effective technique relieves the constant pressure your back feels. This alone can bring instant back pain relief for anyone that uses Nubax Trio.

Nubax Trio vs. Inversion Table

First of all, the Nubax Trio is smaller and takes up much less space than an inversion table. It’s portable, while an inversion table is not. You won’t have any trouble putting the Nubax Trio away, which is a big benefit. Can you imagine having an inversion table in the corner? Perhaps you have room for an inversion table, I don’t know. Personally speaking, I would rather have a back pain treatment that is easy to move, easy to get to and easy to store. With Nubax Trio, you get that.

An inversion table will decompress your spine using the force of gravity. You invert at a certain angle (from as low as 30 degrees to full inversion – hanging upside down) and gravity pulls your vertebrae apart. You’ll be hanging upside down and who wants to do that? I know I don’t, with Nubax Trio, you won’t have too. And again, I’m giving you my honest professional review on this. I think inversion therapy can be dangerous to some people. I know patients that have had success with both. Still, I don’t like hanging like that. If you don’t mind it, perhaps it’s the route you should take. For myself and what I would recommend to my older back patients, Nubax Trio is much safer.

Some people just don’t want to be hanging upside down, and it can cause a few temporary side effects, like dizziness and slight headache. For others inversion can be dangerous. That is the big key, injuries. I’ve known several patients that have made their back pain worse due to inversion therapy. If you are older, the Nubax Trio offers a safe way to relieve your back pain. That is the big difference between the two. And as I said before, I’ve seen both of them work. Now, if you’d rather have a natural back pain treatment with no equipment, you may want to consider Doctor’s Back Pain Systems. You just follow protocol and guidelines with this treatment, but this completely reduces the risk of injury.

The Nubax Trio does not require hanging upside down at any angle, and spinal decompression is created through active stretching (but with very little effort in your part). However, you can’t use if for neck traction, you’ll need a neck traction device or an inversion table for the neck area. For those of you with neck pain, you can’t get neck pain relief with Nubax Trio. I just wanted to point that out real quick. Some of my patients thought that, so I wanted to clear that up.

No Strain On Your Joints – The Nubax requires little effort on your part, and causes no strain on other joints in your body. Some people complain about joint strain from using an inversion table. You don’t have to worry about that with the Nubax or with Doctor’s Back Pain Systems. A lot of back pain treatments out there are really hard on the joints. One of the leading reasons I presume you still stay in pain with other treatments.

Back Pain

Does the Nubax Work and How Fast?

Through my research, I’ve seen many people reporting immediate pain relief using the Nubax Trio, even after just one session. But for many others, it took about 2-3 weeks to feel significant effects – Including 90% reduction in pain, improved posture, flexibility and reduced stiffness. Since it only takes 5 minutes of your day, give it a chance for at least 2 weeks before you decide if it works for you. This is still great results and the reason why thousands of people have bought Nubax Trio.

Will It Hurt Your Knees or Hips?

The Nubax requires for you to bend on your knees to stretch your back, but if you’re worries about your knees or hips – Don’t. You can simply put a thick pillow under your knees and some people use it on their bed! Under the condition, even if you have knee and hip issues, the Nubax Trio won’t cause you any additional pain. You want to be very careful of course but a simple pillow will do the trick. Face it, there’s some questionable back pain treatments out there, Nubax Trio is unique and effective.

Is the Nubax Easy To Assemble and Use?

Nubax Trio is super easy to use, I know 80 and 90 year old men and women that use it daily with no problems. It comes well packaged and well made. It takes 10 minutes max to put together and is easy to understand. In just a few minutes, you’ll be on your way to relieving your back pain. I still want you to be careful, especially if you are over 65. Simple a precaution only. Nothing to worry about, all I’m telling you to do is take it easy. I want your body to get use to the treatment first. At the least, give it a few weeks, please.

Your package will arrive with a short manual with step-by-step (with pictures) guide to assembling the Nubax. It also shows you how to adjust the shoulder pads and waist belt… how to get out of the Nubax (for those with joint problems), the best times to use it and more useful info. It’s simple to put together, just follow the instructions. It’s an impressive machine. I believe Nubax considered older men and women using this back pain system. They developed an easy to use machine and one that is simple to put together.

It also comes with an instructional DVD with an overview on the Nubax, visual instructions to use properly and who to contact if you have any problems with it. You’re going to know exactly what to do. The DVD will walk you through the entire process. Set back, relax and do make sure you watch the video. It’s very educational, I know you’ll learn some great things and you’ll exactly what to do.

Nubax Trio is Easy to Store Away

The Nubax only weighs 16 pounds (size:  17 x 31.5 x 22.5 inches)  and you can pick it up and easily store it under your bed, in a closet or anywhere else with just a few feet of space. I love this fact about Nubax Trio. Out of sight, out of mind, right? Very easy to move around for older patients, much easier then an inversion table. This comes in handy for a number of different reasons. I won’t go into detail but you have the option to store it away with ease.

You may feel an awkward and uncomfortable feeling in your shoulders. To prevent it,  position the back of your upper arms against the pads, with your wrists on the handle bars. This takes the pressure off your shoulders.

It takes a little “playing around” and adjusting until you reach the most comfortable position. It may be a good idea for everyone to take it easy and let your body adjust to the back treatment. That is what I recommend.  I will also recommend to use a thick pillow under your knees, now you can place your feet against the wall to keep your knees from moving backwards. Nothing wrong with using this. The more comfortable you are, the better.

Understanding Back Pain – Causes & Treatments

Lower Back Pain

The lower back is an intricate structure of interconnected and overlapping elements. Tendons and muscles and other soft tissues. Highly sensitive nerves and nerve roots that travel from the lower back down into the legs and feet. Small and complex joints, Spinal discs with their gelatinous inner cores. An irritation or problem with any of these structures can cause lower back pain and/or pain that radiates or is referred to other parts of the body. Pain from resultant lower back muscle spasms can be severe, and pain from a number of syndromes can become chronic.

While lower back pain is extremely common, the symptoms and severity of lower back pain vary greatly. A simple lower back muscle strain might be excruciating enough to necessitate an emergency room visit, while a degenerating disc might cause only mild, intermittent discomfort. Identifying the symptoms, along with an accurate diagnosis of the underlying cause of the pain, is the first step in obtaining effective pain relief.

Upper Back Pain

Upper back pain can occur as a result of trauma or sudden injury or it can occur through strain or poor posture over time. As an example of the latter cause, in recent years upper back pain has become a familiar complaint from people who work with computers most of the day. Often upper back pain occurs along with neck pain and shoulder pain.

The vast majority of cases of upper back pain are due to one (or both) of the following causes:

  • Muscular irritation (myofascial pain)
  • Joint dysfunction

Muscular Irritation Causing Upper Back Pain

The shoulder girdle attaches by large muscles to the scapula (the shoulder blade) and the back of the thoracic rib cage. These large upper back muscles are prone to developing irritation (myofascial pain) that can be painful and difficult to work out. Often, muscular irritation and upper back pain is due to either de-conditioning (lack of strength) or overuse injuries (such as repetitive motions). Muscle strains, sports injuries, auto accidents, or other injuries can all result in pain from muscular irritation.

Treatment for back pain usually depends upon the patient’s history and the type and severity of  the pain. The vast majority of back pain cases get better within six weeks without surgery, and back pain exercises are almost always part of a treatment plan. Living a healthy lifestyle and applying the right exercises will most certainly relieve your back pain. Doctor’s Back Pain Treatments is designed to relieve lower and upper back pain. Alternative Medicine-6 Great Tips For Chronic Pain

chronic pain reliefBack pain is a health concern for most people in the United States at some point in their lives and one of the most common reasons people miss work or visit the doctor. When you hear of the statistics for the first time, their actually quite shocking. 80 percent of all men and women will experience back pain at least once in their life. That is 4 out of every 5 people.

Today, we’re going to talk about 6 great tips for chronic pain. Some of these chronic pain techniques you may have heard, others perhaps not. I just want you to keep an open mind and give it a chance. You may just be surprised how they can help you manage your chronic pain. Although further research is needed before any of these remedies can be recommended as a standard treatment for back pain, some of them may offer relief for mild to moderate back pain, particularly when part of a comprehensive treatment plan by your doctor.

1. Massage therapy for instant relief. A massage can work wonders for your pain, giving you instant pain relief from back pain, neck pain, arm pain or leg pain. Massage has always been a used technique in alternative medicine. Studies have shown that massage used with exercise can be a useful tactic at easing pain. If you’re lucky, you may have a willing partner to help give you a massage when needed. If not, you may wish to consider paying for it or buying some type of massage chair or wand.

2. See a chiropractor. Back pain is one of most common reasons people visit a chiropractor. Doctors of chiropractic use chiropractic spinal manipulation to restore joint mobility. They manually apply a controlled force to joints that have become restricted by muscle injury, strain, inflammation, and pain. Manipulation is used to relieve pain and muscle tightness and encourage healing. Dr. Jason Hurst offers this at Integrative Health in the Richmond, Virginia area. For those who are not in the Richmond area, we highly recommend the Dr. Hurst’s back pain treatment.

3. Try using capsaicin cream.  Although I’m sure many of you have never heard of capsaicin before, if you’ve ever eaten a chili pepper and felt your mouth burn, you know exactly what capsaicin does. Capsaicin is the active ingredient in chili peppers. When it is applied to the skin, capsaicin has been found to deplete substance P – a neurochemical that transmits pain – causing an analgesic effect.

For a 2011 research review published in the British Journal of Anaesthesia, investigators sized up the available research on the use of topically applied capsaicin in treatment of several types of chronic pain. This included two clinical trials on back pain, both of which found that capsaicin helped reduce low back pain without causing notable side effects.

Capsaicin cream, also called capsicum cream, is available in drug stores, health food stores, and online. A typical dosage is 0.025% capsaicin cream applied four times a day. The most common side effect is a stinging or burning sensation in the area. If possible, wear disposable gloves (available at drugstores) before applying the cream. Be careful not to touch the eye area or open skin. A tube or jar of capsaicin cream typically costs between $8 and $25.

4. Give acupuncture a try.  Acupuncturists insert hair-thin needles into the skin at specific points around the body. It is virtually painless when done by an experienced practitioner. Inserting the needles is thought to correct imbalances in the flow of energy in the body, called qi (pronounced “chee”). As I write in the April issue of the Harvard Men’s Health Watch, in Western scientific terms acupuncture is thought to ease pain by affecting neurotransmitters, hormone levels, or the immune system.

Just how does acupuncture work? According to traditional Chinese medicine, pain results from blocked energy along energy pathways of the body, which are unblocked when acupuncture needles are inserted along these invisible pathways. Acupuncture may release natural pain-relieving opioids, send signals to the sympathetic nervous system, and release neurochemicals and hormones.

5. Get plenty of Vitamin D. Chronic muscle pain can be a symptom of vitamin D deficiency. What’s more, some research suggests that treatment with vitamin D supplements may lead to clinical improvement in back pain symptoms among people with low initial concentrations of vitamin D. I recommend Vitamin D to all my chronic pain patients and I’ve seen first hand how it can help with chronic pain.

An essential nutrient available in certain foods (such as fortified milk and fish with small bones), vitamin D is produced naturally by the body during exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays. But since it’s difficult to obtain your recommended daily intake of D solely through dietary sources and sun exposure, many medical experts recommend increasing your vitamin D levels by taking a dietary supplement.

6. Yoga is a great healthy tool. Yoga creates balance in the body through various poses that develop flexibility and strength. There’s some evidence that taking up a yoga practice may help relieve back pain. I highly recommend yoga to all my patients because of the many health benefits it has.

For a 2011 research review published in Clinical Rheumatology, investigators looked at seven clinical trials that tested the effects of yoga in patients in with low back pain. Of those studies, five suggested that yoga leads to a significantly greater reduction in low back pain than usual care, education, or conventional therapeutic exercises. However, the other two studies showed that yoga was no more effective than other types of care for low back pain.

5 Great Tips For Natural Pain Relief

Natural Pain RelieversAt Doctor’s Pain Relief Systems, we’re always looking for ways to help you with your pain. Dr. Jason Hurst went to a great seminar recently about natural pain relievers. “I learned a lot of great things about natural pain relievers,” Dr. Hurst applied. “It’s surprising the effort and focus that our researchers and developers go through in their studies. I have to commend them all for their efforts, the seminar was unbelievable and so helpful.”

Today, we’re going to learn about natural pain relievers and how they can help you get natural pain relief.

1. Get out in the sun. By just spending 15-20 minutes outside in the sunlight, you can reduce your pain. The sun helps the body produce Vitamin D and studies have shown the Vitamin D can reduce pain. If you have back pain or neck pain, take the time to go lay out in the sun. If your sensitive to sunlight, don’t lay out for 20 minutes. You should have an idea of the amount of sun needed, get out there and enjoy it.

2. Meditate at least twice a day. Meditation can also help reduce your depression, anxiety, stress and sleeping problems that often come with chronic pain. Make sure your open minded about alternative healing before starting. This can really be a huge benefit for you. I will admit, when I first heard about this, I was like “whatever.” If you keep an open mind, this can be a huge benefit for you, it works ladies and gentlemen.

3. Get enough sleep. How many of us our working over 12 hours a day, another 8 hours a day in our routine and the next thing we know we have 4 hours to sleep? How do you feel when you wake up? If your like me, you feel like you’ve been struck by a train. Getting a full 8 hours of sleep is so critical for reliving pain and the healing process. I know it’s hard and perhaps impossible but you have to try. Make an effort to get 8 hours of sleep and let me know how you feel when you wake up, I bet you feel a lot better.

4. Go for a massage. This is my personal favorite. A great massage can work wonders for your body. If you’re looking for natural pain relievers to instantly take your pain away, this is it. Hopefully, you have a spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend to help you. If you don’t, there is a number of different machines out there to help you. If you have back pain, they have the chair you sit in. So, you do have options.

5. The value of stretching daily. How long has it been since you spent 20 minutes stretching? If it has been a long time, this natural pain reliever works like a charm. I recommend that you stretch at least 2 times a day for 20 minutes a session. Please note, it can take weeks for you to get your body and back fully stretched. Don’t give up after a few days. Your going to be sore but this only means that it is working. Within a few weeks, you’ll feel a lot better and you’ll have less pain.
